Stem Cells and Development

Stem cells present in Human body are unspecialized cells. They have the power to differentiate into any cell in an organism and to regenerate. Stem cells exist both in embryos and adult cells. They are specialized into many stages. Each stage reduces its developmental potency, where its produces unipotent stem cell which can't differentiate into as many different types of cells as a pluripotent cells.

  • Adult stem cells
  • Adult cells altered to have properties of embryonic stem cells
  • Perinatal stem cells
